
Shyam Upadhyaya

Shyam Upadhyaya started his career in 1987 as a statistician of the Central Bureau of Statistics of Nepal. Before joining UNIDO in 2005, he worked in many developing countries as an international expert on statistics for UN, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and other international agencies. He has been involved in preparation of several UN recommendations on sampling design, industrial statistics and short-term economic indicators.
In recent years he contributed to development of global indicator framework for SDG. Shyam Upadhyaya holds Ph. D. in Economic Statistics from the Moscow University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics. He is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute and a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
